The new neighbor

On Saturday morning, Nora hears a truck outside her apartment building. She looks through the window and sees a man carrying boxes to apartment 3B. Nora lives in 3A, right next door. She puts on her shoes and walks into the hallway. The elevator is busy, and several boxes are waiting near the front door.

The man smiles when he sees her. “Hi, I’m David. I just moved in,” he says. Nora answers, “Welcome to the building. I’m Nora, your neighbor.” David has a large box in his hands, so Nora asks, “Do you need help with that?” Together, they carry the box into his apartment.

Inside, David asks where he can buy groceries. Nora tells him about a small market on Pine Street and a bus stop near the park. She also tells him that the laundry room is in the basement and that recycling is collected every Tuesday. She gives him her phone number in case he needs help. David says, “Thank you. It is nice to meet a friendly neighbor.” Nora replies, “You’re welcome. See you around.”
