La historia

Leah has an interview for an assistant manager position at a grocery store. The interview is scheduled for Tuesday at 10:00, and she has already arranged transportation and printed her resume. On Monday afternoon, the store calls to explain that the hiring manager has an emergency and cannot meet the next day. The caller apologizes and asks whether Leah can reschedule. Leah feels disappointed, but she knows that responding calmly can make a good impression.

Before choosing a new time, Leah checks her work schedule and the bus timetable. The caller offers Wednesday at 3:00, Thursday at 9:00, or Friday at 1:30. Leah is available on Thursday morning, but the earliest bus would arrive only five minutes before the interview. Friday gives her more time, but she has an English class in the evening and wants to prepare without rushing. She asks whether Friday at 1:30 is still open and whether the interview will be with the same manager.

The caller confirms both details and sends Leah a new email. Leah reads it carefully: the address, entrance, contact name, and time are all the same. She replies to confirm the appointment and asks whether she should bring any additional documents. The caller says her resume and identification are enough. Leah updates her calendar, saves the contact number, and tells her current supervisor that she will need a longer lunch break on Friday.

On Friday, Leah arrives twenty minutes early. The hiring manager thanks her for being flexible about the change. During the interview, Leah explains that she checked the details instead of assuming the old plan still applied. Later, she reflects that a schedule change can be stressful, but it is also an opportunity to show organization. By comparing her availability, confirming the contact information, and leaving enough travel time, she was ready when the new appointment arrived.
