The community center class

Ahmed sees a poster at the library about free classes at the community center. One class is called “Everyday English Conversation.” It meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 to 7:00 in Room 12. Ahmed wants to practice speaking with other people, so he walks to the community center after work. At the front desk, a volunteer named Elena welcomes him and asks how she can help.

Ahmed points to the poster and says, “I would like to register for the English conversation class.” Elena asks for his name, phone number, and email address. Then she explains that the class starts next Tuesday and that students should bring a notebook and pen. Ahmed asks, “Is Room 12 on the first floor?” Elena says, “Yes. Go through the main doors and turn left after the information desk.”

Ahmed fills out a short form and receives a small schedule card. Before he leaves, he repeats the details: “Tuesday and Thursday, 6:00 to 7:00, Room 12.” Elena says that is correct. Ahmed puts the card in his wallet and sends a message to his friend: “I registered for an English class at the community center.” His friend replies, “That sounds great. Tell me how it goes.” Ahmed is excited to meet classmates and practice useful conversations.
