La historia
Kevin is going to a new office for a job interview on Thursday. He has the address in his phone and plans to use a map app after leaving the train station. On the train, he watches a short video and sends messages to his brother. When he arrives downtown, his phone shows one percent battery. He opens the map, but the phone turns off before he can see the last directions.
Kevin sees a coffee shop across the street and goes inside. He says to the barista, “Excuse me, my phone battery is dead. Can I use an outlet for five minutes?” The barista points to a small table near the window and says there is an outlet under it. Kevin has his charger in his backpack. While he waits, he asks, “Do you know where Oak Street is?”
The barista takes out a paper map and shows him the way. “Walk two blocks north, turn right at the bank, and the office is next to the pharmacy,” she says. Kevin’s phone turns on after a few minutes, but he writes the directions on a piece of paper too. He arrives at the office fifteen minutes early. Before the interview, he sends his brother a message: “I made it. Next time, I will charge my phone before leaving home.”
