A talk with the supervisor

Paula works in a clothing store. Near the end of her shift on Friday, her supervisor, Mr. Lewis, asks her to come to the back office. Paula worries for a moment, but Mr. Lewis smiles and says, “You are doing a good job. I want to talk about tomorrow.” Paula brings a small notebook because she wants to write down every important detail.

Mr. Lewis explains that the store will receive new shirts and jackets in the morning. “Please help Kim check the stock and put the new items on the floor,” he says. Paula repeats the task: “I will check the stock with Kim and put the new items out.” Mr. Lewis says that is correct.

Paula then asks, “What time is my break?” Mr. Lewis answers, “Your break is at 11:30 for thirty minutes.” Before she leaves, Paula checks her next shift. It starts at 9:00 on Saturday. She writes the time, task, and break in her phone. She also sets a reminder to leave home at 8:20 and puts her work shoes by the door, so she is ready for the morning.
